Q. What geographical area do you cover?
Our local area is Northamptonshire, but we're happy to quote for functions
further away. Please email us with your venue's location (including postcode)
and we'll let you know a price based on the distance we'll have to travel
and whether overnight accommodation will be required.
Q. Can I see you play live before I book?
The majority of our bookings are private functions, but we like to play a
public gig as often as we can. Our public performances are listed on
our gig list page, so those considering booking us can come and see us
play live. We thoroughly recommend that anybody booking a band goes to
see them play live first. See our
gig list for the latest list of public
dates.
Q. How do I know whether you're available?
Take a look at our
gig list to see the dates we've already
been booked for - if the date of your function isn't shown then please
contact us and we'll let you know whether we're available.
Q. How do I book you?
When you wish to book us we will issue you with a contract, which you
should sign and
return to us with a deposit payment. The balance of the fee (total fee, minus deposit) is
payable in cash on the
evening of your function.
Q. Can I book you provisionally?
We regret we cannot accept provisional bookings - it is not until we have
received a signed contract and deposit payment that we can hold your date
for you.
Q. Can we request a specific song for our First
Dance?
If you would like Mr.P to learn and perform a special song of your choosing
as your First Dance, please advise at the time of booking. You will need to
notify us of your choice of song no later than 8 weeks before your wedding
day. This is free of charge.
Q. How long does it take you to set up your equipment?
If you have booked an evening with mr.p, set up usually takes around 1.5 hours, including a sound check. If we arrive at your
venue 6pm, we'll usually be set up by 7.30pm and ready to play background
disco music through our sound system.
If you have booked an afternoon with jazzy.p, set up only takes 30 minutes.
Q. Have you got full Public Liability cover and a current PAT certificate?
Yes - we have up to date PAT testing and PLI to the value of £40m - we can provide copies of the relevant certificates on request.
Q. There's a noise limiter fitted in our intended venue
- is this OK?
We regret that we cannot work with a noise limiter. Limiters are based upon
decibels, which react to pitch rather than straightforward volume and so can
result in frequent and embarrassing cut outs in the music. This ruins the
function for you and your guests and it can also damage our equipment when
the limiter cuts back in.
Q. Can we use your sound system for
speeches/announcements?
Once we've set up our equipment and had a full sound check, we're
happy to allow a designated person make use of a microphone.
Q. How long do you play for?
If you have booked an evening with mr.p, we normally perform two sets, each one lasting between 45-60 minutes.
If you have booked an afternoon with jazzy.p, we will perform one set which lasts two hours.
Q. Can you provide pre-recorded music when
you're not performing live?
As part of our standard service if you have booked an afternoon with mr.p, we will play background disco music through
our sound system when we're not performing live. We have in excess of 72
days' worth of music on our laptop that we can play when not performing
live. We've also got a full lighting system, lasers, scanners and a smoke machine to enhance the atmosphere.
This usually begins at 7.30pm right the way through until midnight (when
Mr.P is not performing live).
Q. Do you need feeding?
If you have booked an afternoon with mr.p, yes please! It can be 10 hours from the time we leave our homes to the time
we get back again, so a little something would be most welcome! A
simple plate of sandwiches is sufficient or the band can join in the buffet.
Q. Do I need to arrange a changing room for you?
Yes please - we will arrive in mr.p or jazzy.p branded clothing suitable for setting up
the equipment, but will then need to change into our suits for the
live performance. Most venues will be happy
to provide this free of charge.
